Mi-Ny - 70 Patience + Mi-Ny - 172 Heaven + scotch tape + rhinestones

ENG: I realized this nail art a few months ago (I forgot to post it, shame on me!) using the scotch tape technique in «laser» design, as Nalside explains very well in one of her tutorials. I got a big help using a striping tape, and I also added a few pendant rhinestones in the end.

ITA: ho fatto questa nail art diversi mesi fa (e mi ero dimenticata di postarla, ovviamOnte!) con la tecnica dello scotch tape nel design «laser», come Nailside insegna in uno dei suoi tutorial. Ho facilitato la realizzazione usando lo striping tape e, alla fine, ci ho aggiunto strass con tonalità pendant ai due smalti scelti.

MI-NY - 172 HEAVEN

ENG: this is a dark ultramarine blue that couldn't be confused for black, not even without bright lights. Formula is great: very covering, despite high pigmentation it's not sticky at all, long lasting and auto leveling. You'll just need of a top coat for a glossy effect.

ITA: è un blu oltremare piuttosto scuro ma, nonostante questo, non tende a confondersi con il nero, neanche in assenza di luce intensa. La formula è ottima: coprente, non vischiosa nonostante l'alta pigmentazione, di durata eccellente, e autolivellante. Ha solo bisogno di un top coat se volete un effetto glossato.

MI-NY - 70 PATIENCE

ENG: this is a medium magenta shade less saturated than a classic magenta. It's not super covering and flawless at the first coat as other mi-ny cremes that I've tried in the past, but it's still above the average: I just guess I've been spoilt from this brand's polishes with the same finish. :P It also is long lasting, especially with a top coat on to it, that's needful for a glossy effect, too.

ITA: questo smalto è un color magenta medio, meno saturo del magenta classico. Non è super coprente e già perfetto alla prima passata passata come altre creme della mi-ny che ho provato in precedenza, ma resta comunque di una coprenza sopra la media per smalti dal finish similare (penso sia solo "colpa" della mi-ny che mi ha abituata troppo bene, non dello smalto in sè! :P). Ha anche un'ottima durata, che aumenta moltissimo con un lieve strato di top coat, necessario anche se si vuole un effetto finale glossato.

NEON LIGHTS - Mi-Ny - Fluo Green + scotch tape + fimo

ENG: here we are with a new one-shot twinsie post created by Gold Francine from the blog The Beauty Case. This time main theme is NEON, and I', going to show you a scotch tape manicure with "mummy style", realized with a green neon shade and lime fimo slices. I made this nail art for a recent Mi-Ny Cosmetics contest on their facebook page called Summer Nail Art: I won that contest (yaaaaaay! :D) and I hope to write as soon as possible a review for the 3 items I received as prize. ITA: eccoci con un nuovo appuntamento di gruppo one-shot organizzato da Gold Francine di The Beauty Case. Stavolta il tema è il NEON, e io vi mostro una manicure che ho realizzato per il concorso Summer Nail Art indetto dalla Mi-Ny Cosmetics poco tempo fa sulla loro pagina facebook, concorso che ho anche vinto (yeeeee! :D). Spero di recensirvi presto i 3 prodotti make-up che ho ricevuto come premio, ma, ora come ora, fa davvero troppo caldo e non ja fo. Anzi, la finisco con le chiacchiere e vi lascio alla  mia scotch tape in stile mummy, realizzata con un colore neon verde e arricchita da fettine di lime in fimo. Come sempre, in fondo al post trovate le proposte delle mie smaltamiche, ma stavolta tramite Pinterest: cliccate sulle immagini della board e vi rimanderanno ai singoli post di ognuna di noi. ;)

MI-NY - BE FLUO - 04 FLUO GREEN

ENG: this is a wonderful green neon!!! This finish has a few typical details that are hard to manage during application: infact most of neons/fluos nail polishes has a simil jelly base, very liquid but still sticky, and they are not much opaque. For these reasons you'll absolutely need of a white creamy/lacquered base to make them opaque, to emphasize the intensity of colors, and to get an easier application; just pay attention to wait enough time from coat to coat, to avoid empty areas. The neon/fluo finish has also a "classic version" about formulation, creamy and with a better coverage, but still quite thick; thank God there are very good exceptions, like the Orly - Feel the Vibe collection. Anyway, this finish is a challenge most of times, but how can you resist to it, especially in the summer? *__*

ITA: un bellissimo neon verde!!! Le caratteristiche tipiche di questo finish, però, lo rendono di difficile gestione: buona parte degli smalti neon/fluo hanno una base simil jelly molto liquida, ma comunque vischiosa quando la si stende, e sono anche estremamente traslucidi. La soluzione indispensabile (non è un'opzione!) è utilizzare sotto una base cremosa/laccata bianca: per renderli coprenti, per enfatizzarne l'intensità del colore, e per facilitarne la stesura, attendendo sempre quanto basta prima di ogni nuovo strato, perchè, se non è asciutto del tutto, trascinereste dietro il colore creando aree vuote. Non sono molti i prodotti di questo genere con una formulazione "classica", più cremosa e coprente, e anche quelli spesso non sono facilissimi da applicare: grazie a Dio le eccezioni non mancano, come la collezione Orly - Feel the Vibe. Insomma, il finish neon/fluo non è quasi mai comodo e facile, eppure, soprattutto d'estate, difficile resistere loro. *__*

L'Oreal - So Chic Fox + Barielle - Aura Angora + Essence - Happy + scotch tape

ENG: this scotch tape manicure in patchwork design was made in the past February 2013. Sorry for the low quality of the pic, but I was having a flu those days and I didn't care about lights and other stuff. :P

L'OREAL - VERSAILLES - 114 SO CHIC FOX

ENG: this is the darkest shade used for the nail art in the pic. It's actually a lot darker than the color in the bottle: it's not an ochra, but definitely a very yellowish brown. A real soak poop shade. Beautiful! *_*

ITA: nella nail art qui sopra questo è lo smalto più scuro. In bottiglia non sembra, ma effettivamente, una volta steso, non è un ocra, ma decisamente un marrone molto giallastro. Color cacca molla. Bellissimo! *_*

BARIELLE - STYLE IN ARGYLE - 5099 AURA ANGORA

ENG: this one is the medium shade in the patchwork manicure above. It's an intense puke color that I simply love! You can see some kind of color changing in the bottom of the bottle, but it remains just in bottle: on nails the color is the original shade with no problems at all.

ITA: questo invece è il colore intermedio nella patchwork manicure della foto, un intenso color vomitino che io adoro! In boccetta tende a scolorire verso il mattone sul fondo della bottiglietta, ma assicuro che poi, steso, non subisce nessunissimo cambio cromatico del genere. 

ESSENCE - SNOW WHITE - 04 HAPPY

ENG: last, but not least, the lightest color in the scotch tape manicure is a rich ochra, very nice! It comes from an old Essence limited edition. I really like it, and it's a pity you can't find it anymore on stores.

ITA: ultimo, ma non ultimo, il colore più chiaro della scotch tape manicure è un bel giallone ocra intenso! Viene da una collezione limitata Essence che non si trova più. Peccato, perchè mi è piaciuto un sacco.

Kiko - 644 Blu Mare + Kiko - 623 Blu + scotch tape

ENG: oooops! I totally forgot to post this scotch tape nail art made with my two KIKO's polishes from last collections (previews of all of them here: Sugar Mat and Mirror). ;P

ITA: dopo i post dedicati alle nuove collezioni KIKO (la Sugar Mat e la Mirror), mi sono dimenticata di postare questa scotch tape nail art, fatta con i due che ho preso, uno da ciascuna collezione... Che testa!  ;P

KIKO - SUGAR MAT - 644 BLU MARE

ENG: I like the entire Sugar Mat collection, but this one is my first choice because it has a strange feature:  it's as if its color saturation changes under different lights. Sometimes it's a deep and dull blue (my favourite version), sometimes it's more an electric blue, sometimes you can also see silver and turquoise "glitters". Duration is not so great, especially in warm water, and has a very strange smell... I mean, very strange... Like... Mold? Stale? Bad cheese? Dead rat? Rotten foot? Hard to say... Despite this, it's beautiful!!!

ITA: un po' tutta la collezione Sugar Mat mi è piaciuta, ma questo in particolar modo perchè, come potete vedere dalle foto sopra, a volte è come se la sua saturazione del colore variasse: sotto alcune luci sembra un blu profondo ma un po' spento (la mia versione preferita), sotto altre diventa più elettrico, poi sotto altre ancora si vedono pure dei "glitter" argento e turchese. La durata non è eccelsa, soprattutto se si tengono a lungo le mani in acqua calda, e ha un odore davvero ma davvero strano, sa di... Muffa? Stantìo? Formaggio andato a male? Topo morto? Piede putrefatto? Difficile a dirsi... A parte questo, è bellissimo!!!

KIKO - MIRROR - 623 BLU

ENG: I picked up this nail polish especially for two reasons: first of all it has a very high pigmentation so it's perfect for stamping; secondly, because it's very close to a China Glaze I wanted but that I can't find easily. The shade is a blue-almost-silver with a chromed finish, not an actual "mirrored" finish, as the name of the collection suggests. Application on whole nail was quite decent, after all; duration was poor, instead, but this is a typical feature for this kind of finish. In the end, a cute nail polish very useful for nail arts!

ITA: ho preso questo smalto principalmente per lo stamping, vista la sua altissima pigmentazione, e poi perchè mi ricordava un casino un China Glaze che volevo ma non mi è di facile reperibilità. Anche quello era un blu-quasi-argento con finish cromato, e non davvero "a specchio" come il nome della collezione suggerirebbe. Alla fine, anche la stesura su tutta l'unghia non mi ha creato grossi problemi; la durata, invece, è stata scarsa, ma è cosa abbastanza tipica per questo finish. Uno smalto carino e utile per nail art!

March the 17th / 17 marzo Saint Patrick's Day / Giorno di San Patrizio Green Patchwork Manicure

JULEP - LEAH

ENG: my first and only (so far) Julep nail polish comes from a swap. It's a light spring green with a slight silver shimmer inside of it. I thought it was sheer and watery, but not so much: it's decently covering. Pretty. :)

ITA: il mio primo e, per ora, unico smalto Julep viene da uno swap. E' un verde primavera chiaro con un lieve shimmer argentato. Temevo fosse sheer e acquoso, e invece no, è decentemente coprente. E' pucci. :)

W7 - 73 COSMIC GREEN

ENG: I bought this polish with Salt n Pepper and Lava Flow a few months ago. It contains toluene, so the smell is awful, but its beauty is  undeniable. It has a clear base with small rounded and hex turquoise, emerald green and gold glitters. And, of course, it sparks. It sparks a lot! Take a look at this video as .

ITA: ho preso questo smalto qualche mese fa insieme al Salt n Pepper e al Lava Flow. Contiene toluene, quindi l'odore è atroce, ma la sua bellezza è innegabile. Ha base trasparente con piccoli glitter quadrati ed esagonali in turchese, smeraldo e oro. E, ovviamente, brilla. Tanto! Guardate questo video come prova. 

ESSENCE - COLOUR & GO - 54 TRUST IN FASHION

ENG: a discontinued item that has a terrible formulation: it's streaky and it cannot be spread evenly, really a bad formula. Why I didn't throw away it? Because o the color, just for this reason, since it's a beautiful forest green with a hint of jade. And because it is quite useful for nail arts because it's very opaque.

ITA: è uno smalto fuori produzione e ha una formulazione pessima: striscioso e non omogeneo nella stesura, davvero una pessimissima qualità. Perchè non l'ho lanciato nella lettiera di Maya? Per il colore, solo per questo, perchè è un bellissimo verde fUresHta con un accenno di giada. E anche perchè, alla fin fine, torna utile per le nail art, visto che è molto coprente. Almeno un pregio diamoglielo, dai!

The Rainbow Ladies #7 - VIOLET Astra - 708 + Kiko - 330 + Kiko - 293 + scotch tape

THE RAINBOW CHALLENGE BY THE RAINBOW LADIES!

ENG: we are going toward the end of this "challenge". This is the penultimate round and the color of the week is VIOLET! This time I decided to try with a patchwork manicure in Chloe's Nails style. I really like this scotch tape design: it's easy to do and has a classy look. You'll just need for a bit of patience, because you have to wait that the previous layer is completely dry. ITA: ci stiamo avvicinando alla fine di questa "sfida". Questa settimana è il penultimo appuntamento e il colore è il VIOLETTO! Ho deciso di provare una patchwork manicure in stile Chloe's Nails. Mi piace un sacco questa scotch tape, perchè è facilissima da fare e il risultato finale è molto elegante. C'è solo bisogno di avere pazienza, perchè, per ogni passaggio, c'è bisogno di aspettare che quello precedente sia totalmente asciutto. Come sempre, date un occhio in fondo al post per le proposte violettose delle mie smaltamiche! ;D

ASTRA - HOLO LACQUER - 708

ENG: I've just posted last week a review and swatches, you can find all info here. By the way, it's a holo microglitter in a blurple base. Very good application and duration on nails. Fabulous.
ITA: ne ho postato recensione e swatches proprio la scorsa settimana, trovate tutte le info qui. Comunque, in breve, è uno smalto viola/blu con microglitter olografici. Ottima applicazione e durata. Favoloso.

KIKO - 330 LILLA

ENG: a lovely pastel lilac with a hint of baby pink, maybe could I call it a wisteria shade? It's a two coater with a very good formula: thin and liquid but quite covering.
ITA: un grazioso lilla pastello con un accenno di rosa, o forse dovrei chiamarlo glicine? E' uno smalto da due mani di colore con una buonissima formulazione: fluida e sottile ma piuttosto coprente.

KIKO - 293 VIOLA DEL PENSIERO

ENG: a purple blue-toned creme (almost a dupe for China Glaze - Grape Pop). As the previous one it has a great formula that's a flowing application and a full coverage in two coats.

ITA: uno viola sui toni del blu dal finish cremoso (quasi un dupe del China Glaze - Grape Pop). Come lo smalto precedente ha una formulazione di ottima qualità: applicazione fluida e piena coprenza in due passate.

The Rainbow Ladies #6 - INDIGO Sinful Colors - Hottie + mummy scotch tape

THE RAINBOW CHALLENGE BY THE RAINBOW LADIES!

ENG: I have to be honest with you all... I didn't ever understand what the hell is exactly the INDIGO color! Sometimes I see rainbows with a "normal" blue, sometimes it is a blurple, sometimes simply purple... What I should do with this post? My answer was obvious: I don't care! XD So I've chosen a periwinkle nail polish, maybe a bit lavender, maybe a bit blueish... I also decided to play with the striping tape to create a mummy manicure, using the scotch tape technique. And this time I painted both my hands, too! ;P
N.B. any single comment that should try to explain the actual definition of indigo and why I'm not using an actual one, will receive a standard reply: "blah blah blah". XD

ITA: che settimana difficile questa... Stavolta tocca al colore INDACO, e caos fu, perchè mica ho mai capito che menghia di colore sia l'indaco! In alcuni arcobaleni compare come un normale blu, in altri è a metà strada tra il blu e il viola, in altri è proprio viola violissimo. E mo'? Che fo? La mia risposta standard a questi dubbi atroci è sempre la stessa: sticazzi. XD E così vi porto questo smaltino un po' pervinca un po' lavanda, un po' bluastro. Ho giocato con lo striping tape, poi, per creare una mummy nail art con la tecnica dello scotch tape, per una volta ho fatto anche entrambe le mani! ;P
N.B. ogni commento che tenterà di spiegarmi cosa sia davvero l'indaco e perchè io non ho utilizzato un vero indaco, riceverà una risposta standard che consisterà in "gne gne gne". XD

SINFUL COLORS - HOTTIE

ENG: this shade has a periwinkle jelly base with small and medium rounded opalescent glitters inside of it. I wasn't so greatful as soon as I received this polish as extra in a swap, I must to admit it, because it is very sheer and gloopy, but shame on me! I always should remember that (almost) any polish has its strength, and I'm proud to say to you that I found it! Over a white base it isn't sheer anymore, you don't need of many fatty coats, so it will dry soon, keeping its beauty to show you off. Love you Hottie, at last! Peace? ♥
ITA: è uno smalto a base jelly pervinca con piccoli e medi glitter opalescenti. Devo confessarlo, sono stata un'ingrata quando l'ho ricevuto come extra in uno swap, non mi piaceva perchè era trasparente e denso, ma sciagura a me! Devo sforzarmi di ricordare più spesso che (quasi) ogni smalto ha almeno un punto di forza da qualche parte, e sono fiera di annunciare che anche stavolta l'ho trovato! Sopra una base bianca il problema trasparenza sparisce, non c'è bisogno di millemila strati ciccioni, e quindi asciugherà pure in fretta, mantenendo la sua belessa intatta. C'è voluto un po' Hottie, ma alla fine amo anche te! Facciamo pace? ♥

Nail Art: Fall Patchwork Manicure with scotch tape

ENG: just a very quick post for a scotch tape mani that was made months and months ago. Since colors are olive, brown, sage, taupe, etc, I think it's perfect to post it right now, in the middle of the Autumn. This time I won't add technical details for any single nail polish I've used, just because... I absolutely don't remember which ones I've used! Moreover, if you were interested in replaicing a technique like this, there's a very well done tutorial made by Chloe in this post. Enjoy it! ;D

ITA:  un post veloce quest'oggi, per una manicure fatta mesi e mesi fa con la tecnica dello scotch. Visto che i colori usati sono oliva, marrone, salvia, taupe, eccetera, penso sia perfetto da postare adesso, in pieno autunno. Questa volta non aggiungerò descrizioni tecniche di ogni singolo smalto, semplicemente perchè... Assolutamente non mi ricordo quali ho usato! Milani - Red Sparkle + Essence - Black Out + scotch tape

I'm not able to choose from the bunch of pics I made to this mani: eight images is as less as I can. I hope you'll like it, I hope you'll love these polishes as I do, and I hope you'll try this funny and classy at the same time design with scotch tape. I was inspired from 2 blogs: The Posh Polish who catched my attention proposing sparkly tips using a polish I own and I love in this post, and my usual scotch-tape muse Nailside who made it in a lovely marine style on this entry.

● MILANI - ONE COAT GLITTER - 521 RED SPARKLE

This is the last polish I own from this Milani collection and I say again that it's another success. I have no more words for these amazing really-almost-one coat glitters, and pics speak by themselves. Sparkly is not enough for them, and the saturation of the color is so high in this red shade that camera had many difficulties about catch it, as you can see in few photos. As i wrote before, the final surface is rough, so you'll need for a generous ammount of top coat if you are searching for a gloss finish. A pain in the ass to remove, but you could avoid this pain with a long hot bath, probably the polish will go away as a decal after that. Only for this kind of polish this is a gift of God, you'll make it easily if you'll apply a thick coat of base-coat at the beginning of your mani. ;)

● ESSENCE - BLACK AND WHITE LE - 01 BLACK OUT

Love love love this black polish. It's a slightly satin finish, almost matte, and the formula is very good. Perfect as base, since it's very opaque in just one coat, this time I used two coats to work better on the edge. It's getting thick but some drops of thinner will fix everything, but a good shake before polishing any single nail was enough for now. The matte finish was good, but I added a matte top coat more! :P

● ESSENCE - MATT TOP COAT

I'm really impressed from this top coat in a very good way! Just... It will be discontinued within  few days... Luckily I have 3 bottles (I bought a one more right this morning) in my stash.

Unusual idea to refresh an usual manicure

Sometimes your manicure is a disaster after few days and you have no time to remake it. What do you do in this case? Do you remove the polish and stay with the base coat alone? Sad... OOOR! Could you make a french... Boring. OOOOOR!  Jane from Nailside inspired me with her explosion design tutorial.
I like very much the scotch tape technique, but it takes a lot of time... Anyway the most of this time consists in expectation, since you need to wait as much as possible that your polish is entirely dry. But... If your polish was already dry for days? It's a piece of cake! You'll need for few minutes and your manicure will back to life for other days more! P.S. I fought a bit with design, I need to improve! LOL

Nail Art: glitter stripes with scotch tape

My cousin took advantage of me during her last vacancy and I made her this nail art using the scotch tape technique, the habitat of Nailside and Chloe, my scotch tape muses! My cousin was veeeery happy for this and she told me couldn't help but stare at them at the beach, in and out of the water, and this thing has given me an idea, useful for the future... Maybe... I have a question for european readers: do you know a store where I can buy Milani polishes for her?
